I would just like to take a moment, at the beginning of this post, to draw your attention to the new pages I have created at the top of the website, just below the header.
Please take a look at these links to all of the different animals I’ve covered:

Thank you,

1. Building In Water – Beavers can create dams, ponds and canals. Humans can also do this.
2. Floaty Resources – Beavers can float food and building material on water. Humans can do this too.
3. Beavering Builders – Beavers live in homes, called lodges, and build them just like humans do.
4. Timber! – Beavers can cut down trees and so can humans.
5. Savvy Swimmers – Beavers can swim and dive. Humans can do these things as well.
6. No Time For Sleep – Beavers do not hibernate and neither do humans.
7. Log Stacks – Beavers store sticks and logs in piles and so do humans. Maybe not for the same reasons, but this is still a similarity that I can get away with!
8. Swell Senses – Beavers have a good sense of hearing, smell and touch. Humans also have these.
9. Same Breed – Beavers are mammals and so are humans.
10. Keystone Species – Humans are a “keystone species” which means that they effect the environment around them and look after certain aspects of it. Some examples are that we look after pets such as dogs and cats or we grow and tend to certain plants. Beavers create wetlands by changing the habitat around them in order to build their dams, this means that they are also a “keystone species” because animals will live in these environments that they have made.
11. Champion Carrier – Beavers carry stones and mud in their front two limbs when they are building, much like humans would carry these in their hands.
12. Front Door – Beavers build entrances to their homes much like humans do.
13. Bathroom and Bedroom – Beaver lodges often have one area for a beaver to dry themselves off once they are out of the water, and another place for where the family lives. This means that they have the capacity to use different rooms for their various reasons, which humans can also do.
14. Home Insurance – Beavers repair damage to their homes, much like humans do.
15. America, America – Certain beavers have been known to live in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and Colorado. Humans also live in all of these places.
16. Family Trees – Beaver families consist of one adult female, one adult male and their babies, which are called “kits”, “pups” or “yearlings”.
17. True Love Forever – The mother and father of a beaver family are monogamous, which means that they stay together for life, which in some cases is true for humans.
18. Widowed – If a beaver’s mate dies then they will partner up with another, which can be the same for some humans.
19. Brother From Another Mother – Beavers can have children with different partners, which is very rare, bearing in mind that they are monogamous and would only do so if their previous mate had passed away. This can also be the case for some humans.
20. Born Legacy – Beaver families can often be as large as ten, which can be the case for some humans.
21. Cheaper By The Dozen – If a beaver’s family is large then they may live in lots of different lodges, or homes, which can be the same for some human families.
22. Bit Of A Squeeze – A beaver family may also have a large number but they live in one lodge, or home, which can also be the case for some humans.
23. My House – Smaller beaver families usually only live in one lodge, or home, which can be the case for humans.
24. Super-parents – Both male and female beavers take part in raising their young, which can be the same for human parents.
25. Feed Me! – Human babies are dependent on their parents for food, which is the same for young beavers: “kits”, “pups”, or “yearlings”.
26. Pass It Down, Through The Generations – Beavers teach their young life skills, much like some human parents do.
27. Toys And Games – Young beavers play and so do young humans.
28. Copy Cats – Human babies, or children, copy their parent’s behaviour and this is the same for young beavers.
29. Stay At Home Siblings – Older beaver offspring may also live in their families and help their parents, which can be the same for older human children.
30. Big Brothers And Sisters – Younger human children may be looked after, on occasion, by their older siblings. This can also be the case with beavers.
31. Sticking Together – Beavers practice alloparental care, which means that if the parents die, or otherwise disappear, an older sibling may take over with the parenting. This can also be the case with human families.
32. Leaving Home Is Hard – When beavers leave home they don’t settle far away, which can be the same for some humans.
33. Hey, Neighbour! – Beavers can become familiar with their neighbours and will be prone to allowing them on their territory more often than strangers. This can also be the case for humans.
34. Superstars – Beavers have appeared in films such as; “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”. Humans have also appeared in this film and films in general.
